Summary

Having spent 30 years at the BBC, the majority as a senior manager, I took voluntary redundancy in March 2015 and have set up Mickord.com Ltd  - a media relations consultancy.

For 17 years I was managing editor of BBC Radio Merseyside - one of the BBC's most successful stations.

In 2012 I was appointed editor of the BBC's religion and ethics website based at Media City in Salford.

I work with individuals, private companies and public sector organisations who want to improve their media profile.

I also organise highly effective crisis communications workshops tailored to your specific needs.

Let's talk.

I started as a radio news reporter in 1984, joining BBC Radio Merseyside in 1985 when I covered a range of stories of local, national and international dimension including the Heysel Stadium court case, the battles between the Liverpool Militant Labour council and the Conservative government, the Hillsborough disaster and its aftermath, the James Bulger murder, Liverpool's Capital of Culture Year and many more stories.

I became managing editor of Radio Merseyside in 1995 and when I left 17 years later it had achieved it's highest ever listener reach in 10 years, winning many major awards along the way.

I also directed  BBC's Voices in 2005 which incorporated the biggest ever survey taken of UK accent and dialect and involved tv, radio and online to a hitherto unprecendeted level.

I left Liverpool for Media City UK in Salford in 2012 to take up the online editorship of BBC religion and ethics, and digital literacy.

In 2014 I was editor of the BBC's coverage of Safer Internet Day which was enjoyed by 17 million viewers, listeners and web users.
