Summary

Judge & Priestley LLP was formed in 1889 as a specialist debt recovery law firm. Although the firm was built on the foundation of debt recovery, which remains one of its largest field of activity, it developed a number of other thriving departments to include: Family and Children's law, Commercial amd commercial property development, Residential Conveyancing, Private Client, General Litigation and Property and Housing Litigation (landlords and Tenants).

Thus, the firm as a whole provides a full house service for its commercial and individual clients, catering to almost all of their legal needs and requirements in business and in life.

As those other departments grew, the business elected to create a dedicated debt recovery division under the name J&P Credit Solutions. The aim was to ensure the firm continued to provide a clear focus for its longstanding debt recovery work and to provide a platform to ensure the business could grow and embrace the changing environment.

The business has gone from strength to strength and provides debt recovery and commercial litigation services across a number of sectors to include Local Authority, Utilities, Financial Services, Insurance, Security and Publishing to name a few.

The firm is able to offer an unrivalled and seamless “cradle to grave” service from early arrears collections to litigation and enforcement. This allows clients to reduce its governance of third-party suppliers, while also fundamentally reducing costs whilst maintaining the highest level of quality standards. Ultimately producing the results our clients desire.

We view ourselves as an extension of our clients’ internal credit control departments. We work closely with our clients to ensure that we fully understand their businesses in an effort to maximise returns. This also includes providing  various different added value and free of charge services such as in-house training and ad hoc assistance dealing with backlogs in credit control matters.

The wider Credit Solutions (CS) division of Judge & Priestley LLP comprises both the commercial and local authorities recoveries teams and the insurance recoveries team. CS is managed by a senior team comprising of five partners, Mark Oakley, Rachel Addai, Mark Younger, Robert Davis and Uday Patel.

Rachel and Uday oversee and manage the teams dealing with the commercial and local authorities debts, namely the:

 1.   Collections team, specialising in bulk debt recovery;

2.   Claims and Enforcement team, specialising in pre-action legal recoveries and enforcement of judgments; and

3.   CS Litigation team, dealing with defended or complex disputes, insolvency litigation and providing ad hoc advice.

The CS Litigation team is listed as a Tier 1 legal practice for debt recovery within the South-East England region by the prestigious Legal500 directory.

With all three teams housed within our main offices in Bromley, J&P Credit Solutions provides a one stop shop for all debt recovery services which can be tailored to the specific needs of our clients. Together with our bespoke case management software, our services are honed to provide a cost-effective, flexible and high-quality solution to our client’s debt recovery needs.
