I notice when I go out walking with my friends we walk.
Let me explain. We walk in beautiful countryside, we walk on coastal paths, we walk through magical woods with dappled lights. We take photographs, we talk about the beautiful scenery.
RARELY do we just STOP, really APPRECIATE where we are, what we are seeing and TAKE IT ALL IN
We take our normal modus operandi for life into our downtime.
Trying to walk longer, faster or climb higher hills. My friends husband refused to walk with her if she was going to do her ‘stressy walk’;fast and furious rather than calm and mindful.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to do better but your downtime is the time you have put aside to provide that slower pace to recuperate.
Next time you are out for a walk take a pause, sit down and enjoy the scenery, listen to the birds singing and notice how many shades of green there are in nature.
