Summary
I am a qualified counsellor with a MA in Counselling from the University of Manchester. I have experience of working in the NHS, dealing with a wide range of issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, loss and bereavement, low self-confidence and self-esteem, relationship and family issues. I also have an understanding of adoption issues from my work for a charitable organisation.
I am particularly interested in work-related stress, as before training as a counsellor I worked as a solicitor in a busy commercial litigation department and therefore I understand the demands and pressures of working in a corporate environment. I am also an affiliate counsellor for a number of Employee Assistance Programmes.
I work in accordance with the ethics and guidelines of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), of which I am an Accredited Registered Member.
There are a number of types of counselling and the approach I use is integrative counselling. This means that I am able to use a range of different methods which can be tailored to meet your individual needs. I believe that relationship is at the heart of the counselling process and therefore the values that underpin my approach are empathy, genuineness and acceptance.
