• Strategic consulting
• Executive coaching
• Training
for professionals within the recruitment industry, and their clients.
Founded by Alison Humphries in 2002 (and formerly known as Amelius consulting, but that didn’t play too well with SEO!), we have worked with hundreds of recruitment businesses to help them maximise performance, enter new markets, prepare for sale and work more sanely and efficiently.
Our approach is based on expert knowledge, bespoke service and face-to-face consulting, because it sticks. We don’t broadcast videos, webinars, public courses or virtual input. Instead we concentrate on the unique DNA of each of our client businesses to give them a genuine and confidential service that offers real competitive advantage.
Alison has been a director of Hays Plc, Robert Half International, Barkers Norman Broadbent Plc and Penna Plc, as well as a N.E.D. of many smaller businesses. She has first-hand, up-to-date experience of permanent, temporary, contract and R.P.O. recruitment, business start-ups and executive search. Most importantly, she is a highly experienced consultant to business and an engaging, original trainer.
Alison is a graduate of Oxford University, a fellow of the I.R.P. (REC), a member of the C.I.P.D. and holds a postgraduate diploma in Learning and Development. She has been a top performer, and has personally negotiated some of the biggest contracts with clients including IBM, Boots, HP and Compass. As Chief Examiner for the REC she has a special expertise in law and regulation but is driven by great leadership, sales performance and building distinctive, premium recruitment businesses.
Alison is a well-known industry commentator and columnist, and has appeared on BBC Breakfast and several radio interviews.
Executive Coaching
“Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren't used to an environment where excellence is expected.”
Steve Jobs

It’s natural for a new business owner, or someone newly appointed to a senior role, to feel a little “at sea”. I believe that if you feel on top of your game, you’re probably missing something.
The effect of leaders on business success is central. If you are not challenging the status quo, identifying opportunities and planning your next move, you’re not leading.
And if you’re not leading, then you’re not inspiring your team to be the best they can be.
Executive coaching is private, personal and productive. With a regular monthly meeting, agreed actions and telephone support, you can address issues, create and communicate a vision and respond to new circumstances. Although each programme is unique, common issues include
• Framing and articulating a business plan
• Managing a variety of staff, from beginners to experienced billers and those with “special needs”
• Stepping away from billing and transforming client relationships
• Prioritising a mountain of possibilities
• Preparing for a major pitch.
A coach makes you accountable for implementation and offers confidential support. Talk to us about enhancing your business and your career.

Training
“Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. “
Aristotle
At Recruitment Leadership we don’t do open (buy a ticket) courses or off-the-shelf packages. Irrelevant training, pitched at the wrong people or so generic as to be unusable, is worse than no training at all.
Training and development is often confused with a stimulating or entertaining lecture. Real learning and development is about getting people to change their behaviours – because they want to.
Our aim is to ensure that your people avoid mediocrity and practise excellence. We focus on deep knowledge, genuine consultancy and real credibility.
Some of the topics we have covered include:
Professional selling Managing the recruitment cycle
Competency based interviewing Winning retained business
Effective negotiation Powerful written communication
High-impact presentations Proposal writing
Memorable client meetings Telephone based business development
Management development and assessment centres
However, all programmes are designed to meet the needs of the business and the level of the group, to maximise engagement and the implementation of learning.
100% of participants in our training rate it as excellent or very good, describing it as “challenging”, “practical to implement” and “highly participative”.
Strategic Consulting
“However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.”
Winston Churchill

Sometimes, you just don’t know what you don’t know.
That’s when the objective advice and expertise of an experienced director can help.
