The HSE has launched its latest inspection blitz of construction refurbishment projects, targeting a high-risk section of the industry where it says businesses continue to cut corners.
The proactive inspection initiative was launched on 2 October, and will target sites across the country for two weeks.
They will be focussing on hazards such as respirable silica dust, asbestos and structural safety.
Work at height; materials handling; site order; and welfare provision will also be subject to scrutiny.
Are you meeting your employer and employee statutory duties in these areas? If you’re not sure you’ll find information from the government’s own HSE site http://www.hse.gov.uk/asbestos/essentials/.
This is a fairly hefty set of documentation and if your employees need training urgently (or in the future) we recommend our cost-effective and quick online training courses in Construction Safety, where all of these topics are covered.
