Ask yourself four simple questions
• Who is our responsible person?
• Have we got a current Fire Risk Assessment undertaken by a qualified auditor and is it sufficient and been reviewed?
• Have all the actions from the Assessment been completed.
• What do we do in the event of a Fire?

If your building has a fire Risk Assessment and if the Assessment is thought to have been carried out to an insufficient extent, or by an unqualified Assessor the Responsible Person can face an unlimited fine or up to two years in prison.
Could your business handle a £160,000 fine and the CEO being imprisoned for two years. It has happened to a very large care home company who failed to have a correct Risk Assessment undertaken and failed to train their staff, this ended tragically with a death of an elderly resident. The Fire Services were also awarded £50,000 for their time.
The Fire Services can check your premises at any time, not just after a fire or potential fire.
Be prepared not fined
