Modern artists have adopted this form and played it, so it doesn't have to sound and look like a living drama.
Pitch Perfect
Well, yes. Technically, this film is about Anna Kendrick's Becca as a reluctant unaccompanied chorus singer, but the real fun of this musical movie lies in the artistry on the screen. We have glimpsed many singers and groups with killer harmony, and the music celebrates this kind of love and energy. There is a reason why there are two (not very good) sequels.
La La Land
The "Modern Musical" created by director Damien Chazelle,
this Oscar winning musical movie in Los Angeles tells the story of an aspiring actress (Emma Stone) and a traditionalist jazz musician (Ryan Gosling) who worked hard to achieve success, but was warmly welcomed and closed.
Hairspray
This feel good comedy (opened in the new label), starring John Travolta and Nikki Blonsky, tells the story of a teenager who loved dancing in the 1960s and won a place on local television. This new role made her a star, and she tried to use her spotlight to encourage more different actors. An inspiring musical movie.
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory
This is not just a stick: this strange, surreal and exaggerated musical movie also contains many catchy songs. Gene Wilder, as an eccentric and sadistic chocolate factory owner, has never been so good as now. The songs about the disgusting death of every selfish child are very attractive.
White Christmas
This musical movie popularizes the well-known "White Christmas" version, but it also has a lot of more catchy and undervalued tunes, not one, but two romances. It was the highest grossing musical at that time. Although it is very retro now, it is still essential to watch in cold weather.
Rocketman
If you want to watch a biopic, it is a glorious celebration of Elton John's rise as a global pop phenomenon. This is an honest examination of the dark parts of fame, including the singer's fight against drug abuse. But it also has all the songs you know and love (and the story of how John wrote and performed them).
Sing Street
An adult story about a boy forming a band to impress a girl... Then the band finally became very, very good. It remakes the classic songs of Sing Street, Hall&Oates, The Cure and Duran Duran, as well as some dazzling OTT 1980s fashions. Don't love things?
The Muppets
Adapted from the beloved Henson character (and the Oscar winner of the Best Original Song Award), this musical movie starring Amy Adams and Jason Segal is the human counterpart of their ambiguous co actors. Puppet fan (and puppet himself) Walter must help Kermit. From the evil Tex Richman. Will they reunite the band and save the puppet theater? Obviously, yes, but it was very interesting to get there.
