What was your first job after you left school?
I wanted to be a professional Photographer, but my Father was a Civil Engineer and my Grandfather was a Mechanical Engineer, so I was pushed hard into Engineering, and my compromise was to start work with BBC TV in London as a trainee Broadcast Engineer in 1978.
It wasn’t until after my Father died in 2010 that I could persue my dream of becoming a professional Photographer, starting with Weddings, Corporate Events, Products and Portraits, and recently moving across into Personal Brand Photography.
And you? What was your first job after you left school?
(photo is the Network Control Room for BBC1 TV, which is the last stage in the transmission chain at BBC Television Centre, taken at Christmas 1978. My job was to do the sound and vision mixing between incoming sources, so any mistake that I made would be seen / heard by up to 25 million viewers – no pressure then)
