Finding the right website design partner and product for your business

Finding the right website design partner and…

One of the most important things to get right when starting a new business is your web presense, especially if you are expecting the internet to bring in new customers for you.

With the ever changing landscape of the net, it's very difficult for you to learn all the new technolgies, social networks, terminologies that are constantly being thought up by the high flyers in the world. After all, why should you? You are not an internet expert and you don't want to be. You just want it to work for you and if necessary let someone else take all the hassle for you and just know it's being done and done right.

SEO - that hated buzzword

SEO is one of those phrases that turns a lot of people off immediately. We used to sell this as a service but it's gotten so diluted now that 95% of people you speak to are not interested, partly as they do not see the benefits (in other words they don't really understand it) but more importantly, they have been bombarded with high pressure sales calls from call centres that really just want their money for little return

Social Media - social what?

Social Media is also a minefield of activity, get that wrong and the social world will immediately see and possibly retaliate. I've lost count of how many businesses i've seen have major Social failings as they did not respond to an enquiry effectively and efficiently - this happens a lot on Facebook where someone will complain publicly adding the company in question to the post. Then the company come back with a flippant comment only to get all the complainers friends jumping in on the bandwaggon attacking the company - PR nightmare and it just snowballs from there!

Also choosing the right Social network to take advantage of is also important. There is little point in the local grocers using LinkedIn unless they are selling into corporates, more useful for them to be using Facebook or Google Plus where their target market is actively browsing.

Your website

Then it comes you your website - there are literally thousands of web developers, designers, platforms and the like out there, how on earth do you choose between them?

Also mobile is now the new desktop - take a look at any typical website you view on a daily basis on your mobile, the chances are you will have to pinch and zoom in to read the content - not ideal if you need information quickly.

Effectively it comes down to the skill sets of the individuals you engage with. Personally i've worked upon a wide range of technologies over the years, C++, Php, Visual Basic, Pascal but I settled upon the Microsoft Asp.Net and C# languages - this wont mean anything for you but effectively you can do pretty much anything with these server technologies.

That then coupled with HTML5 and good well structured designs allows you to product a wide range of websites offering a massive range of features.

We specialise in a Microsoft Technology called Asp.Net and upon that we use an Open Source Content Management System called Umbraco. Umbraco is brilliant, full stop! It allows you to edit your content in a very easy and methodical way. If you can use Microsoft Word (or similar) you can edit your website.

Simplepage and where it comes in

Taking all this into account, we realised that there was a gap in the market for affordable, reliable and up to date website designs that just work but that encompass all the good things in the market that are bringing in new business.

Traditionally we have built large websites and applications, often costing in the £4-8k range - obviously not every business can afford this so Simplepage was developed to provide a low cost alternative built upon the same technologies as the larger sites and still allows you to grow with the needs of the business.

SimplePage is anything from a one to many pages website solution bespoke to your individual needs. All our designs are modern, inviting and adapt to the technology which it is viewed on. Building upon Responsive Website Design techniques means if your viewing your site on a mobile it still looks great, guess what tablets and the multitude of other online devices look surperb too!

We also include stunning SEO features to help with your search engine ranking and results and to top all of that, we are on hand to help you optimise your site to get the most out of it.

Oh and it's very affordable meaning you can afford it, extensible meaning you can extend and add on to it and scalable meaning there are no real limits to what we can do for you

All our designs are slick and have features such as google maps, contact forms, soild SEO foundations, slideshows and much more - browse our site http://www.simplepage.co.uk for examples.
