More employers are recognising the vital role that line managers play in supporting employees whi are off work on short-term and long-term sick leave, but most aren't giving them the tools they need to manage absence effectively.
A CIPD 2016 Absence Management survey, in partnership with Simplyhealth, reveals that less than half of employers (44%) train managers to handle short-term absence from work. This is a drop of 8% - down from 52% in 2015.
