Be prepared for sick notes!

Be prepared for sick notes!

The government has passed new legislation to allow a wider range of healthcare professionals to certify fit notes, in attempt to ease pressure on GP's.

Coming in to force on the 1st July 2022, Pharmacists, nurses, occuapational therapists and physiotherapists will be able legally certify and issue fit notes.
Employers may receive fit notes from these professionals and should their HR teams are updated to accept them and not refuse just because it isn't issued by a Doctor.

Existing absence management policies and procedures should be amended to include the fit notes from a permissible, wider range of healthcare providers.
